Finding my voice

As an artist you search daily for what it is you need to say visually. My voice is found when I create an image. So far so good. But of course talking to oneself can only last for so long before the question of how healthy this is. So the voice  becomes less frequent and even lost. Self belief and confidence fade and your world becomes silent. Other life takes over and you forget that once you had something to say as you become lost in society’s clamour. But then one day, you awaken and know that the voice isn’t lost and that it had merely needed resting. Now it is stronger, wiser, experienced and more importantly  ready to speak to others. My voice is found.  I am now prepping my new project, a visual response to a woman who had her voice taken from her. Her name is Medgel and she was called witch.

My Art- A stratigraphy of paint in which a history of the artists actions are condensed in a single remaining image. The process being one of decision making, mark making, covering, uncovering, adding, burying, scraping away and finally revealing or hiding.
