I’m attracted to patterns, repeat imagery, non symmetrical repetitions. I often listen to minimalist music such as Philip Glass when I’m painting. Some of my work comes to me as a repetitive beat or sound rather than as a visual first. Pattern also gives me the chance to exploit luxury through gilded areas that create nuances in how the work will appear depending on the lighting. I like the fact that my paintings look very different in different lights so that they are in effect not a static image.
